Coventry Health Care, Inc. announced on July 9th, 2007 that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire privately-owned Florida Health Plan Administrators, LLC, and owners of Vista Health Plans. Vista currently serves about 300,000 members in the stat of Florida, with most of it membership in the local Dade, Broward and Palm Beach aria.
Over the years Vista Health Care has established itself as a strong local-based health plan serving commercial employers, individuals and governmental agencies. Coventry and the local Vista Healthcare management group will team up to bring Coventry’s enhanced technology and its full suite of products and financial strength to Vista Healthcare and provide the marketplace with more affordable health insurance products.
Coventry will acquire Vista Health Plans for $685.0 million in an all-cash transaction. Coventry will continue operations from Vista’s Sunrise headquarters and will tap the local expertise of the Vista management team. Vista will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of publicly traded Coventry Health Care, Inc.
Coventry Health Care through its commercial business, individual consumer and government business and specialty business divisions, provides a full range of risk and fee based managed care products and services to a broad range of individuals, employers and government funded groups, government agencies, and other insurance carriers and administrators.
Recently Vista Health Plans, appointed Christopher A. Ciano as chief executive officer of Vista Healthcare. Christopher A. Ciano most recently led the 1.3 million-member commercial group sector for Blue Shield of California in San Francisco, CA. Christopher Ciano has also served in various leadership positions over the last 20 plus years with Health Net, United Healthcare, and MetLife Healthcare. Ciano earned his bachelor's degree with honors from the University of Southern California.
